The Elysian Dance Company

 The Elysian Dance Company is East Cambridgeshire’s newly formed dance company. Based at the Octagon Studios Performing Arts Centre in Ely, the Company rehearse in the lovely mediaeval buildings which were originally part of the old monastery at Ely.

 The dancers are led by Dancer/Choreographer Kerrie Hunt, with Charlotte Middleton-Kay, Nataliya Thompson and Lucinde Lane. All are excellent teachers and therefore have the ability and willingness to pass on their expertise.

 The concept behind the formation of The Elysian Dance Company is to bring dance of a professional standard to the local area, The aim is to provide young dancers and their families, who may not have had the opportunity to see performances at a large national theatre, with the chance to watch dance of various genres—ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary dance, musical theatre—at a local venue. In addition, it offers the audience the valuable experience of being able to talk to the dancers after the performance. The Company will travel to a venue of your choice.

 The members of the Elysian Dance Company are not just performers: they also offer professional workshops to local Schools, Colleges, Youth Clubs and Community Groups. These give participants an experiential learning opportunity and an insight into creating a structured dance piece of their own or learning a repertoire piece that they have seen the dancers perform.

 The workshops are designed to inform and inspire and are invaluable for those studying GCSE Dance, a subject which has been taught with 100% pass rate at the Octagon Studios for many years. One of the dancers in the Company currently teaches choreography and dance for GCSE Dance at the Studios and will be able to give advice on the art of choreography and on how to develop the students’ own dance pieces.
